Give me a G-O-A-L!

If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail. - Benjamin Franklin

I love that quote. Great words to live by in the household, business and for any goal your want to achieve.  When you have a goal, the best way to that goal is to plan your course of action.  The goal will not just fall upon you; you have to set action, create a road map, and follow it to reach your destination. Remember Karate Kid?

To help you along your fitness plan and using your yoga practice as an example I have created a course map to assist in your success in getting an A+ for winter fitness. If your goal is too BIG, chunk it out into smaller pieces to make it more attainable. This is not cheating, it's setting yourself up to WIN!

1 - What is your fitness goal? Setting a personal goal that right for you is the key to your success.  Write down your goal, make it visible to see everyday and keep notes on your successes and obstacles throughout the course. You should review this goal weekly to keep on track.
2 - Commit to a pre-paid quarterly membership or session fee. You will be more likely to attend when you pre-pay for the classes to not waste money on that great deal. It is a mental self motivator that rewards your mental well being too!
3 - Partner with a friend to attend classes and register for class.  Having someone to cheer you one and you giving that back in return is a great reward for you both. You don't stand up your BFF for happy hour so don't make him or her attend yoga class solo either. Plus you will get a class email reminder!
4 - Track your progress. Evaluate at week 3 if your "real" current road map you meet your goal? How can you make it more achievable?
5 - What is your reward when you reach the goal? If your goal is to hold Bakasana (Crow Pose), for five breaths perhaps a great reward could be a new sticky yoga mat, or even a picture of you in that pose for your personal blog. Whatever your reward is, let that also help motivate you.

Start planning your BIG goal and let me now how I can help!  Seriously, I am hear for your support on and off the mat!

Namaste,
Diane
