I have Yoga Breath!

Yesterday I golfed for the first time in 2 years. My clubs were dusty and I felt rusty, but it was so nice outside Shawn and I decided to take advantage of the awesome weather on Memorial Day.

Hitting range balls was a bit of a struggle.  The 9 year old next to me was probably in some ball-flying danger.  Get that kid a helmet! Luckily, no one or any roaming animals were harmed in the experience - at the range.

Waiting to tee off was nerve-racking.  I didn't want to be paired with another 2-some for them to see my amazing golf - NOT. At the tee I nervously practiced a few stroked again, aiming at the pin in the far distance, wind blowing in my hair (forgot a pony tail holder) and hoping to just make it off the tee.

Whif!

Ok --- I can hit another ball. I am still non-pro status and with my fiancé!

Ping!
I hit it!  Wow, what a hit.  It was amazing that after all those years (ok just 2) I could still hit pretty decent. I played the next few holes trying to figure it all out, remembering what I was taught and getting back into my grove.  By the 4th tee I was a little less nervous and took more time to relax. The next thing I knew I was inhaling my yoga breath as I went into the backswing and then EXHALE unloaded my swing, hit the ball with power and had my best shot of the day.  Was that the yoga breath that made me do it?

Whatever I did that time, I did it on the next 5 holes, had a par on 5 (first of the year) and felt more at ease with my swing.  Was concentrating on the breath enabling me to calm the body, swing in proper alignment, with the club speed and power I needed?  Let's just day it did!  I felt it!  It was amazing!

I have yoga breath -  in golf! What else can I try?????

Namaste,
Diane
