Pass the Gravy Please

Next week when you sit down to the dysfunctional family Thanksgiving Feast, take a moment to look around the table as if you were looking through a movie camera lens.  By this I mean, soak it all in like it were the first time, because although you may have had a family feast with this group (shall I even say Crazy Aunt Betty)  for years, each year is different.

One year I had 25 people at my house!  It was a surprise too.  I was nervous about not having enough food, seating, etc and got so caught up in the logistics that I didn't take as much time as I wish I had to look through that camera lens.  Luckily the cameras were out and pictures were snapping everywhere because it was a baby's first Thanksgiving. Little did I know it would be my last Thanksgiving with two special people: my dear Grandma and my husband's Grandma. That day was the last time I would hear each of them say "pass the gravy please".

This Thanksgiving when someone says "pass the gravy" take your time to look them the eyes as you pass the gravy and be thankful that person is with you right now, in this wonderful festive moment.

What's your "gravy" story?

Give Thanks!
